2020 has been a tough year for most of us and, as such, more of us than ever before are looking to next year as a beacon of hope. So, as we head into a festive season that’s going to be tougher than usual, let’s not wallow in misery and instead look forward to all the wonderful things that 2021 potentially has in store for us!
The COVID-19 vaccine
Yes, it’s probably going to be doled out in stages and it’ll be the end of the year before we can all get our hands on it, but the very fact that there’s a working coronavirus vaccine should be music to the ears of everyone. Apart from those pesky ‘anti-vaxxers’, of course.
Getting a new wardrobe
2021 is going to be all about out with the old and in with the new. So why not treat yourself to a well-earned wardrobe upgrade? Whether you’re in the market for a new pair of women’s trousers, an exciting new dress or something that might look good when paired with a mask. Speaking of which.
Not wearing a mask
It’s a small thing, granted, and it’s not like they’re asking us to fight in a war or anything but masks are uncomfortable at the best of times. Also, if you wear glasses they’re an absolute nightmare as it’s almost impossible to wear them for a significant period of time without the dreaded fog descending. Imagine the joy of being able to walk into a supermarket or a cinema with your mouth and nose completely free. It’s coming. Maybe not soon but certainly by the end of 2021.

The dream vacation
Because so many of us were forced to cancel our elaborate vacation plans this year and settle on something ‘closer to home’, in 2021 it’s time to really push the boat out as far as the summer holiday is concerned. Is there somewhere you’ve always wanted to go but could never legitimise the cost? Do it! You’ll have all that money saved any that you didn’t end up spending this year and who knows when we’ll be dumped into another lockdown when the next pandemic hits. Strike while that iron is hot!
Live shows
Comedy shows, gigs, orchestral performances, the theatre, dance recitals. Honestly, when we’re finally allowed to enjoy these things again without restrictions we foresee a major boost in the arts because people are legitimately starved for it!
Seeing your friends
The zoom quizzes are fine (I guess) but there’s no real alternative for meeting up with your nearest and dearest, giving them a big old hug and putting the world to rights over a pint or seven!
