Hermès opens its new store in Hamburg, a contemporary destination reinforcing the house’s presence at the heart of the hanseatic city.
Hermès has recently opened its doors to a new store in Hamburg, a contemporary destination that reinforces the luxury brand’s presence at the heart of the Hanseatic city. Located at Neuer Wall 43, in the centre of the city and the area where the house has been anchored since 1997, this new address among 9 in the country, highlights Hermès’ attachment to the German market, the port city and its local clientele, and contributes to the dynamism of the European market.
This stunning store is housed in a contemporary building with glazed walls, offering visitors expansive views of the interior from the outside.
Designed by the Parisian architecture agency RDAI, the store presents Hermès’ collections in the form of islands. Visitors can stroll around the store’s beautifully arranged collections, including men’s silk, leather goods, equestrian, home universe, men’s ready-to-wear, jewellery, watches, women’s silk, fashion accessories, perfume, beauty, and finally, women’s ready-to-wear.
The store’s interior design is breathtaking, inspired by the colour palette of Hamburg, featuring putty, chestnut, black, ochre-brown, sand, blue-green, grey-blue, and the brand’s signature orange. Large panels are installed behind each window to filter abundant natural light without blocking the view from the outside. In the central space, visitors step onto a mosaic ocean in ochre-brown tones, from which the ex-libris emerges.
As a luxury brand that is dedicated to keeping the majority of its production in France through its 54 workshops and production sites, Hermès has remained faithful to its artisan model and its humanist values. The brand’s aesthetic of functionality and the constant search for beautiful materials forge the singularity of Hermès, a house of objects created to last.
The store’s decor has nautical accents, with a bust of a horse made of linden wood overlooking the mezzanine and artwork that evokes the nautical world. French artists Florentine and Alexandre Lamarche-Ovize have created two scenes for the store windows, entitled Opéra Aquatique, inspired by the underwater world.
