By venturing into the motor yacht division, Nautor Swan is expanding its offerings and catering to a broader clientele. The Swan OverShadow combines the brand’s expertise in sailing yachts with innovative design and performance, delivering a unique and luxurious experience on the water.
Nautor Swan, renowned for its excellence in sailing yachts, has made a strategic move by expanding into the motor yacht division with the introduction of the Swan OverShadow. This 13+ meter power yacht redefines the concept of enjoying life at sea, while still embodying the elegance and style that Nautor Swan is known for. The development of the motor yacht division reflects the brand’s commitment to quality, innovation, performance, and reliability.
The Swan OverShadow is built on the foundation of the successful Swan Shadow sailing yacht hull, which is highly efficient and seaworthy. It features an inboard engine and offers two alternative layout configurations, both above and below deck.
On the deck, the yacht boasts a flush deck design that maximizes livability. It includes an external wet bar/galley and an impressive over 2-meter-long sunbed.
The dining area is generously proportioned and creates a convivial atmosphere with sofas. By positioning the sunbed further aft over the inboard engines, more space is made available on the deck. This configuration also enhances the functionality of the stern area, providing a more practical aft deck for the driver to maneuver, thereby improving the overall handling of the yacht.
The stern platform offers three positions: a central position for driving, an upper position that serves as a passarelle, and a below water level position that facilitates access to the water for swimming or engaging in watersports.
The Swan OverShadow also features a high and wide windshield, providing increased protection in the cockpit and ensuring safety and comfort for the driver and co-pilot, particularly when cruising at higher speeds.
Below deck, the full, closed bow design creates additional space. The Swan OverShadow offers two alternative layouts: a double bed configuration or a twin bed configuration. The double bed configuration provides enhanced comfort for weekend getaways, while the twin bed configuration offers more floor space, creating a seating area. Both layouts feature a larger and more spacious head (bathroom) compared to their predecessor. The objective in designing the Swan OverShadow was to create a yacht with more livable space onboard. The front cabin has been made more spacious, and the helm area provides increased protection. The Swan OverShadow caters to longer stays and weekend getaways, expanding the range of use cases for Nautor Swan yachts.
Jarkko Jämsén, the Swan Shadow designer, explains the design philosophy behind the Swan OverShadow, stating, “For the Swan OverShadow, we wanted to create something with more livable space onboard. This model has a more spacious front cabin and offers more protection in the helm area. The OverShadow is widening the range of use cases into longer stays and weekend getaways. Together with the Nautor Swan team, we created alternative layouts on deck that support this transition from a day cruiser towards a weekender, with the option of a generous wet bar or a longer sofa unit portside. The overall visuality follows the same Design DNA as the Swan Shadow, with a strong connection to Nautor Swan sailing yacht heritage at the core of the design.”
