As the Only Watch 2023 approaches, collectors and enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the chance to bid on Baltic’s unique Premier Quantième Perpétuel – a watch that embodies the brand’s passion for horological excellence and marks an exciting new chapter in Baltic’s journey in the world of fine watchmaking.

As the horological world eagerly awaits the prestigious Only Watch charity auction, there is one brand that is set to make a significant impact with its second participation – Baltic. The French neo-vintage brand has been making waves in the industry since its successful crowd-funding in 2017, offering affordable yet meticulously crafted mechanical watches. Now, Baltic introduces its new fine watchmaking line, BALTIC Experiments, with an exceptional creation – the Premier Quantième Perpétuel.

This unique timepiece marks Baltic’s second participation at Only Watch, a biennial event where prestigious watchmakers from around the world come together to showcase exclusive timepieces crafted specifically for the auction. Only Watch 2023 serves a noble mission, raising funds for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder.

Collaborating with the experienced watchmakers of Maclef, founded by the talented Emmanuel Bouchet, Baltic set out on a remarkable challenge: to develop its own highly legible Perpetual Calendar watch with a perfect balance. The result is a slim 37mm timepiece, a harmonious blend of steel and titanium, featuring three sub-registers and a prominent pointer date.

The dial of the Premier Quantième Perpétuel is a testament to Baltic’s attention to detail and aesthetics. Meticulously balanced, it incorporates three distinct sub-registers to indicate the days, month, leap year, and a moon-phase in silicium material, all set around a continuous second hand at 6 o’clock. The standout pointer date, positioned towards the outer edge of the watch, adds an elegant touch to the overall design.

To achieve their vision, Baltic started from a blank page and 100% reinterpreted the modular perpetual calendar, using the ultra-thin Vaucher 5401 micro-rotor movement. The watchmakers aimed to make the passage of days to the end of the month as quick as possible, enabling the date to change seamlessly from the 28th, 29th, 30th to the 1st of the following month in just 1 to 4 seconds.
