1858 Cognac Fetches 1 Million Yuan (118 000 euros)
The most expensive cognac in the world went to Hong Kong!
The most expensive cognac in the world was sold at auction in Shanghai to Maggie Vong from Hong Kong. She paid for a 1858 Cognac Croizet bottle one million yuan (approx. $156,000)!
The “Cuvee Leonie” bottle, named after the daughter of the house’s founder, Léon Croizet, broke all auction sales records for a cognac.
At the Peace Hotel in Shanghai, in the first auction dedicated exclusively to cognac, 16 precious bottles were sold, including the 1858 Cognac Croizet, handily exceeding the €25,000 record set in France in 2009, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Maggie Vong, the new owner of “Cuvee Leonie”, said that she learned to enjoy and appreciate the cognac from his father, and the one million yuan bottle will be kept for a special occasion.
