At 2300m altitude in Val Thorens, the Fitz Roy was the highest four star hotel in Europe. Following its renovation, Fitz Roy will join a very limited set of 5-star hotels in the Val Thorens ski resort (France), an increasingly attractive destination for luxury hotel connoisseurs. Fitz Roy will be the 3rd luxury hotel in the ski resort town, which had just one 5-star hotel, the Altapura, in 2011.
Set at the epicentre of the ski slopes, in the church square, ever since it was built, this legendary chalet has always been the meeting place for mountain enthusiasts.
In 2013, they will find a hotel that has been awarded its fifth star rating, renovated, to finally recreate its intrinsic, original identity. A new décor, that combines regional Savoyard authenticity with the unobtrusiveness and cosy refinement of a grand family chalet, in which one likes to lose oneself in order to discover all of its charms, from the library to the bedrooms, via the bar or the spa.
At the very heart of the resort and set in one of the most beautiful skiing terrains in the world, true luxury has found its abode in the Fitz Roy. The luxury chalet consists of 58 rooms and suites, plus a unique pool extending into the mountainside, all designed by Gilles Leborgne and the ID Associés firm.
The luxury hotel is scheduled to reopen on December 14.
Val Thorens resort, located in the Tarentaise Valley, Savoie, French Alps, is the highest ski resort in Europe.
