Mercedes-Benz is completing its E-Class family with the new E-Class Cabriolet.
The brand with the star is continuing its tradition of high-calibre convertibles with a classic fabric soft top. The E-Class Cabriolet shows a further development of the Mercedes-Benz design idiom with its puristic, surface-accentuated lines. When the soft top is up, the E-Class Cabriolet has a silhouette similar to that of the Coupé and displays the same expressive proportions.
This open four-seater with a classic fabric soft top combines puristic, sensuous design with high long-distance comfort for four occupants and the latest technology.
Compared to its predecessor, the Cabriolet has grown considerably in length (+ 123 mm), width (+ 74 mm) and wheelbase (+ 113 mm), significantly improving spaciousness and comfort, especially in the rear. A suspension that is 15 millimetres lower than that of the Saloon likewise emphasises the luxuriously sporty character of the E-Class Cabriolet. The car thus demonstrates its sporty credentials even with the standard 17-inch tyres.
The standard acoustic fabric soft top opens and closes in 20 seconds, and ensures very good climatic and noise comfort. In fact the E-Class Cabriolet is the quietest convertible in the competitive line-up.
The E-Class Cabriolet also ensures open-air comfort on cooler days, thanks to the electric draught-stop system AIRCAP and AIRSCARF neck-level heating. Heat-reflecting leather improves comfort in direct sunshine.
The rear seat backrests are 50:50 split-folding and have a through-loading feature. This considerably improves the day-to-day suitability of the Cabriolet.
New highlights in the interior create a high-quality ambience. They include, for example, air vents in a new turbine look, and the new interior colours “yacht blue” and “titian red”.
The intelligent washer/wiper system MAGIC VISION CONTROL with convertible function achieves an optimum cleaning effect without any vision-obscuring flood of water, and responds to an open soft top.
The E-Class Cabriolet features all the intelligent innovations of the E-Class Saloon. These include, for example, the Widescreen Cockpit, Touch Control buttons on the steering wheel, comprehensive smartphone integration, the extended Driving Assistance package, the Remote Parking Pilot, Car-to-X communication, the AIR BODY CONTROL suspension and MULTIBEAM LED headlamps.
At market launch there is a choice of five powerful and efficient petrol and diesel engines with the ECO stop/start function available for the E-Class Cabriolet, for the first time also in combination with 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive and all with the 9-speed automatic transmission 9G-TRONIC.
