The 41st Mille Miglia is taking steam. The historic regularity competition reserved for vintage cars produced by 1957 is a classic car battle on the traditional route from Brescia to Rome and back.
The 41st edition of the 1000 Miglia, the historic regularity competition for vintage cars, is showcasing the heritage and iconic status of the Alfa Romeo brand. Among the 420 cars participating in the race, Alfa Romeo presents 47 car models, including three standout vehicles from its collection: the 1900 Sport Spider, the 2000 Sportiva, and the 1900C Super Sprint. However, the highlight of Alfa Romeo’s participation in this year’s event is the presence of the Giulia Quadrifoglio “100° Anniversario” limited edition, which pays homage to the centenary of the iconic Quadrifoglio.
Alfa Romeo’s involvement in the 1000 Miglia holds special significance as it commemorates three important milestones in the brand’s history: the 10th anniversary of the Alfa Romeo 4C, the 60th anniversary of the Autodelta team (the brand’s racing department), and the centenary of the Quadrifoglio Verde, the renowned sports trim level.
The three historic models from the Alfa Romeo collection participating in the race are usually on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese.
They include the 1900 Super Sport and the 2000 Sportiva from 1954, as well as the 1956 1900C Super Sprint. Each of these cars will be piloted by exceptional drivers, adding further excitement to the event.
The 1900 Sport Spider, a rare racing spider with only two models ever produced, features a 4-cylinder twin-cam engine that delivers an impressive 138 horsepower, allowing it to reach a top speed of 220 km/h. Designed by Franco Scaglione for the Bertone workshop, the 1900 Sport Spider boasts a 5-speed transmission and a De Dion rear axle, offering excellent performance and road grip.
The 2000 Sportiva, participating in the race as car number “296,” is another exceptionally rare piece, with only two examples existing worldwide. This model was designed in 1954 to create a limited edition of high-performance cars suitable for both road driving and “Sport” class competitions. Its 2-liter 4-cylinder twin-cam engine produces 138 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, enabling a top speed of 220 km/h. With its streamlined and elegant design, courtesy of Bertone and Franco Scaglione, the 2000 Sportiva is a true masterpiece.
Competing as car number “392,” the 1900C Super Sprint (1956) is an enchanting coupe that represents the “gran turismo” class of the 20th century. This elegant vehicle, known as “the family car that wins races,” is based on the short version chassis of the 1900 sedan. It features a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine with twin camshafts, delivering 115 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. Between 1954 and 1955, the Milan-based company Touring produced nearly 300 models based on the Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint, with its beautiful bodywork complementing the Alfa Romeo chassis.
In addition to the historic car models, Alfa Romeo is showcasing its latest units of the Giulia “Quadrifoglio 100° Anniversario” during the 1000 Miglia.
The Quadrifoglio, which made its debut in 1923, has become an enduring symbol of Alfa Romeo’s DNA and represents the brand’s highest-performance achievements. The limited edition Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models, with only 100 units produced per model, feature a 2.9 V6 turbocharged engine generating 520 horsepower, along with mechanical limited-slip differential for enhanced performance and agility. Celebratory badges designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, gold-colored brake calipers, grille, and mirror caps in visible carbon fiber, and exquisite interior details further distinguish these exclusive anniversary models.
