Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA-Inspired Totem Automobili Will be Making its UK Debut at this month’s Salon Privé.
Totem Automobili will be making its UK debut at this month’s Salon Privé to showcase its extraordinary creations to an exclusive audience.
The 2023 Salon Privé event at Blenheim Palace promises to be a showstopper with the exclusive UK debut of the Totem Automobili, a trailblazing Italian company that reimagines classic Italian vehicles with a modern twist. Inspired by the iconic Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA, the Totem GT presents a fresh aesthetic and technological concept of Gran Turismo, combining the elegance of the past with cutting-edge engineering. Founded by the visionary automotive designer Riccardo Quaggio, Totem Automobili has earned a reputation for transforming original Alfa Giulia GT Junior 1300/1600 models into highly desirable and innovative machines.
A Modern Interpretation of the Classic
The Totem GT is a sight to behold, beautifully finished in carbon fiber, and evoking the spirit of the original Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA. Larger and more muscular, with smooth, precise lines and a powerful stance, the Totem GT radiates sophistication and power. Painstakingly designed over several years, Totem Automobili’s commitment to perfection shines through in every detail of this modern interpretation.
A Fusion of Classic and Contemporary Interior
Inside the Totem GT, a hand-built interior awaits inspection, seamlessly blending classic design elements with contemporary digital displays and details. Custom features, such as individually molded seats based on the original 1750 Giulia GT buckets, offer supreme comfort. Pedals are custom-built and aligned to the customer’s shoe size, ensuring a personalized driving experience. The interior showcases Totem Automobili’s dedication to crafting a car that embodies both nostalgia and modernity.
The Totem Carbon Fiber Monocoque
Totem Automobili takes a revolutionary approach to crafting their Gran Turismo creations. Each original Alfa Giulia GT Junior 1300/1600 from 1970 to 1975 undergoes a complete disassembly and stripping, leaving only the bulkhead intact. This classic chassis is then coupled with a Totem carbon fiber monocoque, expertly marrying originality with modern engineering. The result is an incredibly stiff shell that adheres to the latest EU and US safety standards.
Powertrain Options for Thrilling Performance
The Totem GT lineup features two versions: the Totem GT Super and the Totem GT Electric. The GT Super boasts a compact and lightweight 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, available in two stages. The Stage 1 version offers an impressive 600hp, while the Stage 2 variant delivers an exhilarating 750hp. On the other hand, the GT Electric presents an eco-friendly alternative, offering over 500hp and a 0-62mph acceleration in a mere 2.9 seconds. With an 81kWh battery, the electric version provides a range of at least 295 miles, and its regenerative braking system even allows for exciting ‘drift engine braking.’
The Authenticity of Sound and Experience
Totem Automobili recognizes the significance of the driving experience, and they’ve taken steps to ensure the Totem GT Electric feels and sounds authentic. The car is equipped with a comprehensive external sound system comprising 13 handmade speakers, capable of delivering up to 125db. Drawing inspiration from gaming technology, the sound system is entirely customizable, allowing drivers to tailor the engine sound, torque delivery, power band, gear ratios, and even the rev limiter. This feature ensures the Totem GT Electric maintains the mechanical bond and excitement of a conventional sports car.
