The needs of the Prada-owned Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team inspired A+P Luna Rossa 21 – the new shoes from Prada and Adidas.
Italian luxury house Prada has participated in the oldest trophy in sport, the America’s Cup, for over two decades with the Luna Rossa sailing team. Crafted for the sport of sailing, the new A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 shoe is inspired by the design of the new AC75 Luna Rossa boat as well as iconic Prada and adidas sneakers from the past. While the performance-focused shoes will be worn in competition by the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team, a lifestyle version is available for purchase (on the adidas website the A+P LUNA ROSSA 21 sneakers are sold out).
Inspired by the world of competitive sailing, the A+P Luna Rossa 21 is a low-profile, ultra-lightweight silhouette designed for flexibility, durability and sustainability. A 360° ergonomic adidas last and barefoot, sockliner-free construction reduces weight and maximizes flexibility—creating a barely-there feel.
Precision technology helps realize the shoe’s perforated Boost midsole, offering more control, more protection, and a subtle nod to the shoe’s sailing inspiration. Adidas’ Primegreen design ensures the upper of the shoe is made with 50% or more recycled and renewed technical materials.
The freedom of movement is backed up by a perforated rubber outsole that’s been triple-checked to offer grip and durability, for abrasive surfaces and total control anywhere.
Specially-crafted for speed lacing, the shoes feature a perforated Boost midsole for drainage, an ergonomically shaped tongue, hydrophobic E-TPU outer shell, and perforated tongue material from 100% recycled polyester. Available in Cloud White / Silver Metallic / Red, the sneakers a stored in a resistant, waterproof technical fabric shoe bag.
