We humans have not yet been able to harness the energy of the sun to transform transportation… Until now. Here Comes the Sol. Aptera Motors is Introducing Aptera’s Second Solar Electric Vehicle.
Aptera Motors delivers the world’s most technologically advanced solar electric vehicles (sEVs), made possible by breakthroughs in battery efficiency, aerodynamics, material science, and manufacturing.
Aptera unveiled Sol, the second completed Alpha in the company’s growing fleet of Never Charge Solar Electric Vehicles (sEVs). Named after the Spanish word for Sun, Sol’s inspiration comes from science and nature. Just as plants convert the sun’s energy during photosynthesis, Sol is designed to harvest sunlight efficiently and effectively — requiring no charging for most daily use.
“What sets Aptera apart from other electric vehicles is a unique combination of solar and electric power that will fuel your ride without frequent stops at the charging station. Depending on where you live and how much you drive, you may never need to charge Aptera at all.”
Sol offers a lightweight structure, record-low drag aerodynamics, and a 1000-mile range. Live a life completely off the grid, driven by the sun, all while creating a better future for people and the planet. How will you power your lifestyle?
Roush, recognized global leader in engineering, prototyping, testing and manufacturing, is driving new advances in Aptera Motors’ solar electric vehicle (sEV) as the company nears completion of its Beta development phase. Among the enhancements to the ultra-efficient design include improvements to turning radius, geometry, door seals and latches.
“Aptera is the first vehicle of its kind,” says co-founder Chris Anthony. “Its unique shape and curves make the design process more complex. Roush brings deep knowledge of body, chassis, and powertrain engineering, along with testing and simulation to ensure our results are repeatable. Their support will be extremely valuable to help us scale through to manufacturing and assembly.”
With over 10,000 reservation holders around the world, collaborating with Roush will help Aptera accelerate speed to market and improve customer experience. The company aims to begin delivering vehicles this year and ramp up
production in 2022.
