The Bremont Jaguar E-Type 60th Limited Edition Box Set is Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type. The 43mm limited editions feature certain design cues from the Jaguar E-Type’s instrument gauges, steering wheel, and Dunlop tyre tread.
It has been 60 years since the iconic Jaguar E-type was first launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961 and it is still hard to imagine the impact this sublime sports car had on the world’s motoring community. The 265 bhp, 3.8 litre straight-six engine gave it a top speed of over 150 mph, with a price tag of just half an Aston Martin or a Ferrari.
When it was unveiled in March 1961, the E-type not only stole the show but every motoring headline. Famously described as ‘the most beautiful car ever made’ by Enzo Ferrari, the Jaguar E-type epitomised the glamour and excitement of the swinging 60s.
To celebrate this impressive anniversary Bremont has developed an exclusive limited edition box set.
Each set includes one of the two different coloured bezel chronographs, 60 pieces in green and 60 in grey, as well as Bremont’s first ever rally timer. The rally timer integrates two mechanical instruments, a stopwatch with a tachymeter on the left, as well as a clock with sub-seconds on the right. Both are mounted on a beautiful engine-turned back-plate, which can be displayed on an elegant desktop stand or can be fitted into a customer’s car.
Furthermore, every box set comes with a rather special unique driving experience hosted by Jaguar Classic. The
120 privileged customers will get the chance to take the wheel of 3 iconic Jaguar E-types and put them through their paces at Jaguar’s Fen End facility.
The 43mm limited edition Bremont E-type Jaguar watches draw direct inspiration from the car itself. The watches
feature a black dial inspired by the E-type’s instrument gauges. The chamfered hour and minute hands replicate the car’s tachometer needle. The bezel and strap colours match the E-type 60 Edition pantones of ‘Flat Out Grey’ and ‘Drop Everything Green’.
The Trip-Tick watch case is constructed from circular brushed stainless steel with polished bevels on the lugs and a winding crown which is engraved with the pattern of the period-correct Dunlop racing tyres fitted to the E-type. Turning the watches over reveals a further reference to the car in the form of the automatic winding rotor, visible through a sapphire crystal case back, taking the form of an exquisite miniaturisation of an alloy-spoked E-type steering wheel.
In celebration of the 60 years since the E-type first made its appearance, Jaguar Classic will create six matched
pairs of the car: The E-type 60 Collection.
These six pairs of beautifully designed commemorative cars are being built for six owners to enjoy by a hand-picked team at Jaguar Classic. They will pay tribute to two of the oldest and most famous Jaguar E-types of all: ‘9600 HP’ and ‘77 RW’, which played pivotal roles in the unveiling of the car at its world debut in Geneva, Switzerland in March 1961. Jaguar had planned to make 250 examples of the E-type, but by the end of the Geneva Motor Show, pre-orders topped 500. Over the next 14 years they would sell 72,000.
“The Jaguar E-type is a genuine icon, as sensational today as the moment it was unveiled in 1961. It is testament to the E-type’s advanced design and engineering that it can still be enjoyed and admired as passionately 60 years on. The E-type 60 Collection is a lasting tribute for E-type admirers, honouring the car’s legacy and the achievements of the team that created it, many of whom have descendants working for Jaguar Classic today, expertly restoring, maintaining and future-proofing enjoyment for generations to come.” – Dan Pink, Director of Jaguar Classic.
There is over a decade of well recognised and respected history between Bremont and Jaguar. Jaguar first collaborated with the Henley-on-Thames based luxury watch brand during the launch of the cutting-edge Jaguar C-X75 in 2010, for which Bremont developed a unique analogue dashboard clock in keeping with the 778 horsepower hybrid supercar’s futuristic nature and 205 mph performance.
Bremont and Jaguar formalised the partnership following an overwhelming response to the creation of the six
Bremont chronometers which complement each of the six ‘continuation’ lightweight E-type sports racing cars. Nick
English, Bremont Co-Founder, said: “It has been such a tremendous relationship, with real longevity between the
two brands. Being able to work with Jaguar on the 60th celebration of this iconic car is a real honour. There is so much detail and inspiration to work with on the watch designs and doing our first rally timer is a perfect and fitting tribute.”
