September 2011, the 4th edition of the Only Watch charity watch auction raised above € 4 million for research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a degenerative neuromuscular disease affecting 1 in 3,500 boys, therefore 250,000 children, adolescents, and young adults around the world.
Although the research money enables scientists to make progress in promising avenues for treatment of the disease, there is still a gigantic task ahead, says Luis Garcia, Director of Research, Scientific Coordinator of ICE, an International Collaborative Research Program for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Recognized as the world’s first charity watch auction, 2013 Only Watch will take place on September 28th in Monaco. 38 of the world’s leading watch manufactures will each donate a unique timepiece specially created for the occasion.
From September 6th, an international exhibit of the Only Watch collection of timepieces for men and women will travel the world: Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, New York, Geneva and will be concluded by a presentation during the Monaco Yacht Show (September 25th to 28th).
For the 4th time French jewelry Van Cleef & Arpels will donate a watch inspired by the Mediterranean sea and the state of Monaco. 2013 Van Cleef & Arpels Complication Poétique distinguishes by a rotating lapis-lazuli disk with diamonds and white gold.
