An everyday essential finds a new level of distinction. Loro Piana CashDenim is a purist perspective of immaculate utility-design, merged with the authentic savoir faire of Japanese denim culture.
With this exquisite groundbreaking fabric, Loro Piana pursues its quest for excellence, merging Japanese ancestral tradition to push the limits of Italian innovation.
Italian luxury house Loro Piana made the impossible with the “CashDenim”, a unique fusion of Denim and Cashmere.
Lora Piana introduced CashDenim – a fabric made from combining denim and cashmere – as part of its Fall-Winter 2022-2023 collection. The fruit of a rare exchange of knowledge between artisans in Piedmont, Italy and Japanese denim experts, the new luxury fabric represents a creative coalition between two like-minded cultures focused on a quest for perfection.
Renowned for using some of the rarest and most precious raw materials on the planet, the Italian house blends ancestral tradition with cutting-edge technology to offer a discerning clientele creations of unrivalled quality. This promise is once again realized in this season’s CashDenim jeans and jacket, designed with the sole purpose of elevating everyday pieces to the superb level of Loro Piana luxury.
As the name suggests, CashDenim is technically a combination of 60% denim and 40% cashmere. To achieve this delicate mix of yarns, CashDenim must be woven very slowly by experts using vintage looms that are rarely found in modern-day textile factories. The custodians of this exceptional know-how are found in the Bingo region of Japan, emblematic of the country’s culture of authentic artisanal craft.
Japanese selvedge makers work on specialist shuttle looms to produce CashDenim of a meticulous quality. The technicians weave the warp of the dyed denim with the weft of undyed cashmere fibre. It takes a full day to weave 50 metres of fabric.
The denim manufacturers of the Bingo region (Okayama and Hiroshima Prefectures) hold cult-status amongst jeans fanatics and collectors worldwide. Expert technicians combine a 60% denim and 40% cashmere blend and weave it very slowly on traditional looms to produce denim with a kiss of cashmere that softens the feeling against the skin.
The CashDenim has a sublimely soft quality, felt most on the inner as the fabric touches the skin. The material is sent to Italy, where it is treated within the Loro Piana culture of pushing the limits of modern innovation in pursuit of excellence.
The Denim jacket is artisanally crafted with the addition of cashmere yarn for a soft, warm surface. Inspired by workwear, this extremely versatile style is defined by a comfortable, relaxed fit. It is perfect for winter, thanks to lightweight padding and cashmere-jersey lining.
CashFur is also a Loro Piana invention. A unique touch to awaken your senses.
The wonder of softness. CashFur is an original interpretation of cashmere, a signature Loro Piana material. Developed in Loro Piana’s heartland in Northern Italy, CashFur is the result of Loro Piana’s artisanal craftsmanship and the Italian textile engineering tradition. Knitting precious cashmere with pure silk creates a uniquely fluffy and soft sensation to revel in.
As a first stage of the process, raw cashmere passes into a blending machine to let the fibres open to give a more airy consistency and density, while retaining its original colour. A pure cloud of cashmere emerges, to be taken to the carding process.
Swathes of ethereal, finest fibers are selected in slender ribbons, and pulled by artisans before being crafted on circular knitting looms. The fur-like consistency is a tribute to the purity of cashmere, floating with cloudy serenity.
The iconic Loro Piana Extra Pocket was dressed up in CashFur. The Extra Pocket is hand crafted in our Leather Goods atelier, where skilled technicians apply their savoir-faire to the application of the innovative fabric, hand-finishing the bag to ensure that the CashFur is processed with the highest level of detailing.
