In 2020, the Chanel Watchmaking Creation Studio is presenting the Mademoiselle Privé Bouton collection, which pays homage to an essential component of Gabrielle Chanel’s stylistic world: the button.
Unveiled during Paris Fashion Week, Chanel‘s Tweed jewelry and watch collection includes 45 designs set with pearls, diamonds, and gemstones. According to Arnaud Chastaingt, director of the Chanel Watch Creation Studio, “Gabrielle Chanel placed the button on an unprecedented pedestal.”
Taking her inspiration from military clothing and from sailor’s uniforms, Gabrielle Chanel paid particular attention to the button motifs, which presented a wide variety of ornamental designs.
The button became more than a fastening, preciously punctuating her suits and becoming a hallmark of the CHANEL style. The secret watch called Chanel Mademoiselle Privé Bouton perle featues a hidden face adorned with a bejeweled button covering the 10-millimeter quartz watch dials.
The button of this secret watch from Chanel is adorned with an exceptional South Sea cultured half pearl that has an exceptional diameter of 15 mm. It is encircled by an 18K yellow gold cord set with 52 brilliant-cut diamonds (~ 0.46 carat) which conceals an 18K white gold dial set with 142 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0.52 carat).
This luxurious button fastens a black and gold tweed cuff with a black calfskin lining highlighted with golden leather braid.
