#CleDeCartier: minimalist elegance and a harmonious design.
The new 2015 watch collection by Cartier is reinventing a simple shape by eliminating sharp edges and a new gesture introduced to the world of watchmaking. Cle de Cartier or Cartier’s keys aim to evoke an intangible perfection and a door to another Cartier chapter. The bezel is gently rounded, while the horns smoothly tapered.
The crown’s resemblance to a key is unmistakable. The act of resetting the time and date introduced a new gesture to the world of watchmaking, one that recalls the traditional turning of a key to wind up a clock. Elongated and pure, #CleDeCartier is adorned with a sapphire that is not set in a classical manner. Instead, it is ingeniously inserted to remain flush with the metal surrounding it.
The new movement was developed, produced and assembled by the craftsmen of the Cartier Manufacture in Switzerland. Its name — 1847 MC — pays homage to the year the Maison was founded. The incorporation of a particularly rapid barrel provides it with tremendous chronometric stability. The dual-direction winding automatic mechanism provides great durability via a specially designed lever system.
Cartier (founded in Paris, France in 1847) maintains its headquarters in Paris and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Compagnie Financière
Richemont. Cartier has developed many different watches. The classic collections are: Tonneau, Tank, Calibre de Cartier, Ballon Bleu de Cartier, Pasha de Cartier, Ligne 21 de Cartier, Santos de Cartier, and Baignoire.
