Jonathan Anderson shares his message of optimism against the odds.

Loewe’s creative director’s latest capsule with Paula’s Ibiza – their fourth to date – reaffirms and celebrates fashion’s power for positivity, optimism and togetherness against the odds. It’s a community spirit that has characterised Armin Heinemann’s legendary Balearic boutique since it was founded in 1972 – and one that resonates personally with Anderson, whose deep ties with the island and Spain go back to his childhood.

An aide-mémoire of better times to come.

The 2020 capsule collection designed by Jonathan Anderson is a visual feast, capturing the spirit of the Balearics and a moment in time that saw the hedonism of these islands expand to influence subcultures across the world.

“This is a happy, undeniably escapist collection,” says LOEWE creative director, Jonathan Anderson, of his latest capsule collaboration with Paula’s Ibiza. Cue tie-dye tees, summer-ready espadrilles and the very best bags to carry our hopes of better times to come.

Lively prints “pillaged” from the Paula’s Ibiza archive; basket bags woven from sun-dried palm fronds; easy leisurewear silhouettes, rendered in acid-bright tie-dye… LOEWE Paula’s 2020 sees a fully-fledged offering as never before – with womenswear, menswear and a debut fragrance all united by a freedom of spirit.

The luxury fashion house announced it donates 40 euros for every product sold in the Paula’s Ibiza fashion collection to educational projects for children affected by COVID-19 between April and August 2020 in LOEWE stores and on loewe.com

The new LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza Eau De Toilette.

The capsule collection also includes a fragrance for men and women, created by Jonathan Anderson and LOEWE’s in-house perfumer Nuria Cruelles. Coconut water is layered with bright green galbanum and Madagascan mandarin oils upon heart notes of driftwood, sand lily and frangipani flowers. Vanilla absolute and Sulawesi patchouli oil combine with the warm ambergris to form a soft, sultry base. Ultimately, it is a spontaneous and carefree composition: escapism, bottled.

“For the visual portfolio I worked again with Gray Sorrenti. We shot in New Delhi, bringing the vibrancy of the clothing to a lively apex.” – Jonathan Anderson

Shot in the heart of India’s capital, photographer Gray Sorrenti’s visual feast immerses us in the sensorial symphony that is New Delhi – from its kaleidoscopic colours to the tingling scents of spice that fill the air. Parties in Dilliwalen havelis, B-Boys BMXing across rooftops… “They’re introducing me to their world, and that’s so beautiful,” says Gray. “Not many people get to see their world through their eyes.”
