Demi Sec and Blanc de Noirs are the two new expressions launched this July by Jay-Z’s Champagne brand Armand de Brignac, a house rated among the best Champagnes in the world. The prestige cuvée range is bringing a completely new element to this artisanal Champagnes. Armand de Brignac Demi Sec and Armand de Brignac Blanc de Noirs are now the brand’s most expansive champagne. The high price of the Champagne was due to the limited quantities produced.
“We have always given our winemakers carte blanche to create the very best Champagne possible, with no restrictions on time, money or resource,” explained Sebastien Besson, CEO of Armand de Brignac.
“It is exciting therefore to see how they have approached the Demi Sec, historically an under-appreciated style, and created an incredibly special wine using a low dosage (34g/L) from our oldest reserve wines.
Armand de Brignac told thedrinksbusiness the new Champagne made from purely Pinot Noir grapes will sell for around £600-700 in the UK.
“For a long time Armand de Brignac Demi Sec was enjoyed exclusively by guests of the house Cattier, we are only now releasing a few thousand bottles of this much coveted Champagne for those outside of the picturesque town of Chiny-les-Roses.
“Armand de Brignac Blanc de Noirs is introduced as a tribute to our unique terroir in Montagne de Reims, where the majority of grapes are black.”
