The Dior Maison x Dimore Studio collection is available on special order only, for one year.
On the occasion of the 2019 Salone del Mobile in Milan, Dior Maison unveiled fourteen exclusive creations produced by Dimore Studio. This collection, which was presented in the Casa degli Atellani in Milan, is only available by special order, for one year only.
For Milan Design Week 2019, Dimore Studio took over the Casa degli Atellani to present 14 precious objects exclusively designed for Dior Maison. The design pieces were based on the favorite artistic movements of Christian Dior: Surrealism and Cubism. The presentations conceived by design duo Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran took the viewer on a tour of their magical illusionistic sets spread throughout five rooms of the historic site.
“The world of Dior is very vast and so is our way of see things. We are influenced by various styles, eras, and materials. We tried, however, to reinterpret and, perhaps, inject a more contemporary mood into pieces that draw on some of the House’s historical aspects,” said Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran in an interview for Dior.
“We wanted to create objects that are truly timeless, that transcend any particular era. It has also given us the opportunity to rely on great craftsmanship. It is always wonderful to be able to explore new techniques, supported by a House that has great skills and deep history of technique.”
For the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Dior also announced a special pop-up at the concept store Antonia. This temporary space showcased a selection of products from Dior’s Spring-Summer 2019 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri and also several pieces from the Dior Maison collection. To celebrate the occasion, the star ballerina Eleonora Abbagnato, the Director of Ballet at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, gave a special performance on opening night, April 9th.
The interior architecture and design firm Dimore Studio, founded in Milan in 2003 by the Italian-American duo Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran, has been granted carte blanche to create these new design creations for Dior Maison.
This very exclusive collection, composed of vases, trays, a chandelier, a lighter and an ashtray, a place-setting, frames, and an umbrella holder, blends virtuoso work on various metals (gold, silver, bronze and steel) with Plexiglas and natural rattan weave celebrating cannage, the Maison Dior’s emblematic code. An exceptional collection, the alchemy of excellence in savoir-faire, the French art of living and Dimore Studio’s unique contemporary signature.
The pieces were presented in a graphic theater dominated by black in which outlines of paintings and plants are etched in white chalk intermingling with real objects.
