Quad Marine is following the business model of Tesla to bring the electric revolution to the marine industry.
A decade ago Tesla Motors introduced its first electric vehicle and ignited a revolution in the auto industry. In 2018, Quad Marine is following the business model of Tesla to bring the electric revolution to the marine industry.
The Quad 44 is the world’s most advanced recreational catamaran and features clean electric propulsion and solar charging. The pollution, noise, fuel cost, and reliability problems associated with internal combustion engines have all been eliminated.
The dramatically increased accommodation space is an extremely compelling feature of the Quad 44 for both cruising and live-aboard. Compared to the industry-standard Lagoon 450 catamaran, the Quad 44 provides an astonishing 40% larger interior accommodation space.
With its patented raised-cabin configuration, the Quad 44 exceeds the performance and specifications of traditional boats in key areas. The electric catamaran offers much larger accommodation space with quieter cabins and much easier and safer boarding and disembarking. The new design features much better visibility from enclosed forward helm station.
The Quad 44 is powered by clean, silent, and maintenance-free electric drive units on each of the lower hulls. High-capacity battery banks are located within the twin hulls where they are isolated from the passenger space. Dual solar arrays deliver several kilowatts of power to extend the cruising range.
The optional Aerolite sailing rig is simplifying sail handing. The dinghy storage is concealed to achieve an easier launching and safer boarding.
The electric propulsion translates into high reliability and silent operation, while the arrow-beam twin hulls offers energy-efficient cruisingwith smoother, more comfortable passage in rough weather.
“The Quad 44 offers much more than just an alternative to outdated internal combustion engine propulsion. We’ve identified the design flaws and usability problems of traditional catamarans, discarded old ways of thinking, and devised innovative new solutions. The result is a totally new design that’s fundamentally superior to traditional catamarans, with dramatically improved performance, safety, and accommodation space. We invite you to explore our web site and discover why the Quad 44 is the most advanced four-cabin cruising catamaran in the world!” says quadmarine.
The Quad 44 offers six separate deck areas that allow guests to associate as desired. The spacious aft deck provides comfortable seating for 12 guests under a hard-top bimini. Port and starboard settees can both be converted into 4×7 foot berths for two additional guests, creating onboard accommodation space for up to 12 people! The lower side decks serve as twin recreation platforms for swimming, sunning, or fishing.
The expansive foredeck offers plenty of space for lounging and sunning, with a usable area of 7×16 feet. Hatches in the deck may be opened to provide additional light and ventilation through the two forward staterooms and the central saloon. When not required, the lifelines on the foredeck may be removed and stowed. This allows an unobstructed view from the helm station, and reduces aerodynamic drag for energy-efficient cruising.
The mylar head sail and main sail are both equipped with roller furling for easy deployment and reefing. To trim the sails, the entire rig rotates by electric control to set the optimum angle of attack to the wind. Tacking and jibing are trivial operations even when single handed.
When equipped with the Aerolite rig the Quad 44 will offer essentially unlimited range without the cost, maintenance, and environmental impact of internal combustion engines. An electronic autopilot system (availability TBA) will provide automated control of both the sails and the helm, making the Quad 44 the ultimate platform for extended cruising!
