Ocean Reef Group partners with Giancarlo Zema Design Group to build innovative underwater biospheres to grow plant food in an eco-sustainable way within the eco-resort on the water.
Emotional design, recyclable materials, advanced engineering and attention to detail are the secret of this new architectural eco-sustainable experiential formula, proposed by a pool of highly qualified companies with great experience in the eco-resort sector.
Cultivating inside real underwater greenhouses by Nemo’s Garden, brand of the Ocean Reef Group, brings considerable advantages: use of very little water for the cultures thanks to the low evaporation and reuse cycle; absence of insects and therefore no use of herbicides; triple speed of growth of plants in conditions of total eco-sustainability.
The biosphere greenhouse gardening is mostly hydroponic-based.
Growing plants hydroponically means that they are grown without soil in a controlled environment, instead of using a nutrient-rich solution to deliver water and minerals to their roots. These sustainable vegetables can be soon tasted in the Nemo’s Garden underwater lounge in the Palm Village eco resort complex, designed by the Italian architecture firm Giancarlo Zema Design Group, famous for their emotional architecture on the water.
This eco resort represents the first truly unique eco-sustainable touristic interactive experience in the world because it is designed not only to be off grid but also to allow the cultivation of vegetables for one’s needs within underwater biospheres located in the center of the village.
This new concept of hospitality on the water, an innovative and poetic resort in the Maldives, will be built in collaboration with EcoResorts by Marlegno specialized in the construction of wooden houses and ecological resorts. The engineering of the structures and systems is carried out by Sarti Engineering which has been involved in the most important works all over the world for years.
Inspired by the forms of nature, each suite of the Palm Village overlooks the sea thanks to large windows, like telescopes facing the horizon, developing on a 7×14 m platform wrapped in an ideal palm leaf folded on itself, a sort of pergola architecture that brings shade by naturally cooling the 55 sq m living unit with a 40 sq m half-covered terrace and direct access to the sea.
The interiors are bright and elegant with modern and refined furnishings, large living area with sliding doors, large bedroom and bathroom.
Palm Village is an eco-sustainable village made of laminated wood obtained from PEFC certified forests. From the energy point of view, the housing units are self-sufficient, thanks to the energy produced by particular photovoltaic palms 2.5 kW each one by LumineXence, capable of creating energy from the sun and giving rise to pleasant shaded relaxation areas.
The Giancarlo Zema Design Group in its vision went further by creating for the guests of this special resort a large Baobab tree, a restaurant tower in bio-architecture with a eVTOL take-off platform and recharging of electric Autonomous Air Vehicle passenger drones (AAV) by EHang, guaranteeing breathtaking aerial excursions to the discovery of the surrounding atolls, obviously always in green mode.
