The Paul Smith AW23 collection, inspired by the work of modernist designers and architects, just made its debut in Paris.
Inspired by the pioneering work of modernist designers and architects, Paul Smith Autumn Winter 2023 collection explores Paul Smith’s strong tailoring heritage and print expertise.
Presented in Paris at the American Cathedral, the Paul Smith AW23 men’s show is inspired by modernism, interior design and architecture as well as a vintage rug collection Paul discovered on his travels in Italy.
With a decidedly warm autumnal palette offset with graphic interruptions of bright blue, black and white, the collection presents an abstract interpretation of interior codes, oversized prints and reimagined traditional British fabrics.
The palette for Paul Smith AW23 features striking interruptions of black, grey, white and vibrant cobalt blue which serve as a graphic juxtaposition to the warmth of the underlying autumnal scheme of burgundy, browns and mauve. Archival-inspired checks and innovative takes on traditional tailoring fabrics were the order of the day at the AW 2023 show.
Like the modernist movement that inspired it, the AW23 collection’s silhouette evolves from sharp, geometric lines to softer ones.
Paul Smith also announced a collaboration with Mulberry. “Making its debut at our Paris AW23 show, the collection, which is made in the UK, celebrates our shared British heritage as well as both companies’ commitment to craft and, of course, creativity.” – Paul Smith
