EHITMO CALIPSO LOUNGE COLLECTION
Ethimo and Ilaria Marelli interpret new habits for outdoor living by creating attractive new ‘uninterrupted’ solutions; furniture which brings a new sense of wellbeing to the concept of modularity.
Unrestricted, modular solutions: a more authentic reflection of contemporary living, which allows spaces and boundaries, indoor and outdoor, to be redefined.
The Calipso collection, elegant and minimal, is the result of thorough compositional and stylistic re- search, seeking not just a new modularity and expressiveness for furniture, but also a new dimension of wellbeing capable of creating ‘made-to-measure’ refined settings.
Comfort, aesthetics, personalisation and freedom of layout thus express the new outdoor project by Ethimo and Ilaria Marelli.
“I envisioned Calipso as a versatile design with minimalist, elegant lines. A ‘system’, whose modular spirit enables the creation of multiple flexible, reconfigurable solutions, ideal for integrating into a wide variety of outdoor settings”. designer Ilaria Marelli explains.
“It ranges from the simplest of layouts, such as a linear sofa or peninsula, through to a ‘system’ for the contract world with potentially endless possibilities, in terms of both length and layout. The truly special thing about the concept is that all the elements resting on the oversize teak base are ‘free floating’ , so that they can be moved according to taste and desire, offering the possibility of having a free space next to the seat, to be used as a top or to be completed with an accessory surface”.
Ethimo Calipso is offered in three different modules (120×120 cm, 180×120 cm, and 240×120 cm), each of which consists of a base made with natural teak slats, in varying sizes. The aluminium frame is par- ticularly discreet, so much so that the lounge seats appear to be ‘floating’.
The soft cushions are available in three sizes (100×100 cm, 170×100 cm, and 200×100 cm) and are ‘free’ of the base they rest on, which is larger than the cushions themselves in order to allow the ut- most freedom in positioning each element, according to need. The back rests are also unattached, and to ensure the body is correctly supported they use a special system of support, thanks to the inner padding which combines different densities of rubber. Decorative cushions and armrests are available to enhance the seating.
To complete the lounge collection, there are coffee tables with aluminium frames and either an oval top (140×65 cm) or round top (Ø 52cm). The table tops are in Ice White or Emperador Extra Brown ceramic stone. The table top of the round version only is also available in glazed lava stone. As well as the coffee tables and seats, it is also possible to add a practical tray in the same material as the oval tops.
THE EXTRAORDINARY DOUBLE
This new lighting collection by LCM MARIN Design Studio is featuring voluminous handblown glass embraced by striking lightweight metal accents.
Double, a new collection of pendent lights, is based on a shape consisting of two elements made from two different materials – glass and lightweight aluminium. These elements depend on one another to generate a unique and consonant form. The glass globe terminating in a metal ring provides a suggestive effect, with the handle on top alluding to the idea of transporting the light.
In the pendent variant, which is available in three different shapes, the upper metal section with wire rope seeks equilibrium in the scattered light and shadows as they pass through the lower metal ring and globe, the latter crafted from multiple layers of molten glass that are carefully scrutinized by the master glassmaker prior to blowing.
The luminance of the LED light source is softened by an opal diffusor. By virtue of its scope, the Double collection is ideal for private interiors and works very well in large compositions and colour combinations.
Three-dimensional graphics tailored to the walls: SpaghettiWall, wallpaper decor with three-dimensional graphics
Playful perspectives, intersecting geometries and images illustrated on several planes define the wide range of textures in the Spaghetti Wall catalogue: contemporary and innovative representations that are perfect for decorating walls and giving them special three-dimensional effects.
The wallpapers in the Artwork, Boiserie and Wall collections – among the nine in all that make up the Italian-based company’s graphic design offer – feature theatrical glimpses and repeating motifs that seem to burst out of the surface – stripes, polka dots and other optical designs – in numerous colour alternatives and on five types of material, with no limit to the height and width of the roll starting from 50 cm.
They feature different properties depending on their intended use and can have sound absorbing or water-repellent properties, high mechanical strength, a strongly textured appearance or a composition made entirely of natural and recyclable materials to ensure maximum sustainability.
Created by Brioschi Ventrelli, Monogramma and Studio Malisan, the three-dimensional graphics of the Spaghetti Wall collections are tailored to the walls on which they will be applied and can be used in the interiors of residential and contract design spaces.
