Kartell Goes Rock: Lenny Kravitz and Philippe Stark on a mademoiselle chair
“Kartell Goes Rock” thanks to french designer Philippe Starck and musician-designer Lenny Kravitz. The furniture collaboration was presented during Milan Design Week 2012, the world’s most important design fair and featured 6 ‘mademoiselle chairs” originally designed by Philippe Stark. Kravitz dressed the chairs in exotic textiles of fur, leather, python and woven materials.
“The kravitz design take on the ‘mademoiselle chair’ is haute couture meets rock and roll,” said Kravitz
“Actually most of the stuff we’ve done hasn’t been collaborations. Like the Paramount Bay, the 47- story luxury condo we’re doing, that’s us. And we’re doing a hotel project in Toronto right now, that’s us. The only collaboration we’ve done so far is with Philippe Starck. So, not a bad place to start. I have to say that’s been very enjoyable,” commented Kravitz on his first design collaboration project.
