Inspired by the architecture of the Louvre, the limited-edition collection includes a five-pan eyeshadow palette, lipsticks and Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum Concentrate.
The Musée du Louvre and Lancôme have joined forces in an unprecedented collaboration. Inspired by nine masterpieces of sculpture, and by the lights and colours of the museum, Lancôme has created a new skincare and makeup collection: Lancôme x Louvre.
In a groundbreaking partnership, Lancôme and the Musée du Louvre have united their creative forces to bring you a limited-edition collection that embodies the essence of timeless beauty and artistry.
The Musée du Louvre, a sanctuary of art and inspiration since its inception in 1793, has always been a place where artists, both past and present, come to learn and draw from the works of great masters. It’s a living testament to the enduring power of art to influence and inspire. In a remarkable feat of artistic collaboration, Lancôme has taken this concept to heart and transformed it into a captivating reality.
Drawing inspiration from nine iconic sculptures within the Louvre, Lancôme’s Global Creative Director of Makeup, Lisa Eldridge, has crafted a collection that pays homage to the timeless stories and myths that these sculptures represent. The Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, Corinne, the Diana of Gabii, the Nymph with a Scorpion, Echo, Hygeia, the Venus of Arles, and the Sleeping Hermaphrodite all played a role in shaping this remarkable makeup and skincare collection.
Faces of the Campaign: Modern Beauty Meets Timeless Art
The launch campaign, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Musée du Louvre, features four influential women who have become the faces of Lancôme: Zendaya, Aya Nakamura, Amanda Seyfried, and He Cong. These four strong-minded women not only represent the modern-day concept of beauty but also embody the stylistic codes and myths of the iconic sculptures. Their presence in this campaign bridges the gap between classical and contemporary beauty, demonstrating that the essence of beauty is, indeed, timeless.
Laurence des Cars, President-Director of the Musée du Louvre, beautifully encapsulates the spirit of this collaboration: “I am delighted by this debut collaboration with Lancôme, which highlights with incredible talent the diversity of forms of beauty found in the Louvre collections – a dialogue between cultures and civilizations that transcends time and geography. Campaign ambassadresses like the Venus de Milo, the Nymph with a Scorpion, and the Diana of Gabii are an opportunity for us to transport iconic and inspiring classical images, and to compare and contrast them with contemporary images and canons.”
Françoise Lehmann, Lancôme Global Brand President, further emphasizes the connection between art and beauty, stating, “At Lancôme, beauty is art in motion; beauty itself, as a personal ritual, is a means of expressing and distinguishing oneself, through constantly evolving codes – or no codes, to be honest. This unprecedented creative partnership with the Louvre is the cultural reflection of this conviction and our mission for beauty at Lancôme.”
In essence, the Lancôme x Louvre collaboration is a celebration of the ever-evolving concept of beauty. By bringing together the heritage of Lancôme’s 90-year history and the Louvre’s iconic status in the art world, this partnership opens new horizons for beauty enthusiasts. It’s a reminder that beauty is a work of art in perpetual motion, forever changing, evolving, and transcending time.
