New hotels to visit in 2015: Las Alcobas Mexico City (Luxury Collection)
A new hotel in the heart of the posh Polanco district aims to be Mexico’s City best luxury hotel for travelers in pursuit of world-class luxury. Las Alcobas Mexico City is the first of two Las Alcobas properties to fly the Luxury Collection brand flag, and will be followed by the opening of Las Alcobas, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Napa Valley in 2016.
A former residence nestled in the sophisticated Polanco district, Las Alcobas (Luxury Collection) features 35 guest rooms and suites designed by the renowned interior design firm Yabu Pushelberg to reflect the rich cultural heritage of Mexico City. A dramatic spiral staircase anchors the hotel’s lobby, while a series of intimate alcoves connotes a residential feel.
Each guestroom and suite features handmade rugs and original artwork by contemporary Mexican artists, which complements the leather paneled walls and sleek wood detailing. Custom-crafted closets adorn expansive walk-in dressing areas, which feature tall three-way mirrors; while spacious marble bathrooms are equipped with soothing rain showers and deep whirlpool bathtubs. Two-bedroom suites and three penthouse suites boast wrap-around terraces with unobstructed views of Mexico City and the citrus groves below, while presidential suite offers an indoor/outdoor fireplace and breathtaking city views.
Las Alcobas features signature restaurant Anatol, where acclaimed Chef Justin Ermini offers a variety of international dishes in a casual and chic atmosphere. Dulce Patria, adjacent to the hotel captures the color of Mexico’s gastronomy scene with menu designed by Chef Martha Ortiz. Guests are welcome to experience the hotel’s signature Aurora Spa, offering private treatment areas and locally-inspired massage therapies and indigenous skin revitalization techniques, as well as a 24-hour fitness center equipped with cardio and weight training equipment. The hotel will also introduce the brand’s signature Luxury Collection Concierge service to all guests.
The opening of Starwood’s Las Alcobas highlights Starwood’s aggressive expansion in Latin America, where the luxury hospitality chain now boasts a total portfolio of 94 hotels in Latin America and the Caribbean, with 15 additional hotels in the pipeline set to open by 2017.
