It is very impressive how artists can bring a change to our society. Live performance are giving the strongest emotional feelings to people as the artist is closer and instead of adding their emotion in a music, painting, they share it with the public but also with on person just in front of them.
Marina Abramovic is probably one of the leader of this new movement Art for a Change. She is sharing emotion, giving herself as a healing mirror to help people to change, from the start when she was first telling her personal story in playing simultaneously with knifes, she always was the true self everyone would like to be.
I would like to share with you this beautiful love story and magic moment:
Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again.
At her 2010 MoMa retrospective Marina performed ‘The Artist Is Present’ as part of the show, where she shared a minute of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Ulay arrived without her knowing and this is what happened.
If you want to see how people badly need this art for change, look to the video above.
