Limited to only 50 pieces, the Midnight Precious Weaving is the latest Metiers d’Arts luxury timepiece from Harry Winston. The Mother of Pearl natural iridescence of the Midnight Precious Weaving watch reveals itself in different ways according to the light.
The new watch is presented in a delicate 18K white gold case and explores a rare Japanese weaving technique, in which silk gold thread and thin pieces of natural mother of pearl are woven together. The House’s precious weaving technique was first introduced in 2016 with the Premier 36mm timepieces.
This unique art form was derived from “Raden,” the ancient Japanese practice of applying shells to wood and lacquer surfaces.The Midnight Precious Weaving Automatic 42mm marks the House’s second exploration with hand-weaving as a way to transform a timepiece into a creative canvas. By combining mother-of-pearl – an organic material from the sea – with land based silkworms,the House’s designers create a unique tapestry with a timeless quality.

In contrast to the deep white mother-of-pearl background, a burgundy mother-of-pearl crescent embraces the ex-centered hours and minutes counter of the exquisite watch from Harry Winston’s ateliers. Three white gold hands, adorned with three pink sapphires, dance along the counter to the beat of the seconds, bringing a beautiful display of motion to the dial.
