Visionaries and creators, Mert & Marcus have made unique contributions to the arts and continue to push the boundaries of visual language in their work. In association with Art Partner, Phillips presents the first major exhibition of the dynamic artist duo Mert & Marcus.
mert & marcus marks the 20th anniversary of their photographic duo with their first solo exhibition. The exhibition is a unique chance to purchase one of 18 iconic works made available for sale for the first time.Two of the most iconic photographers working today, the duo met in London in 1994 amid the 90s London club scene. Their shared love of art and photography quickly evolved into a working partnership. Their first success came in 1997 when they landed the cover of Dazed & Confused, since then, their distinctive and powerful images have been featured globally in magazines as well as leading advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Gucci, Lancôme, Louis Vuitton, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent. Their work has been exhibited internationally, including the V&A, the National Portrait Gallery and the New York Public Library.
A private reception and cocktail party for close friends and VIPs was held at PHILLIPS’ London headquarters in Berkeley Square Mayfair, with a host of celebrity guests arriving on board a fleet of luxury Maserati Quattroportes and Ghiblis.
Among them were Madonna, Kate Moss, Lara Stone, Irina Shayk, Edward Enninful, Lindsay Lohan, Arizona Muse, Kristen McMenamy, Mary Charteris & Robbie Furze, Katie Grand, Jefferson Hack, Oliver Cheshire, Mollie King, Sam Rollinson, Charlotte Wiggins, Quentin Jones, Ashley Hicks and Jenny Bastet who all joined Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot to celebrate the opening of their first solo exhibition.
The exhibition, which run at PHILLIPS London from 24th October to 3rd November, and at PHILLIPS Paris 9th to 16th November, marked the 20th anniversary of the photographic duo and will be a unique chance to purchase one of 18 iconic works made available for sale for the first time.
