In the world of culinary exploration, the Michelin Guide inspectors are always on the move, seeking out the most exceptional dining experiences around the globe. Recently, they made three exciting announcements that have set foodies buzzing with anticipation. From unveiling the full selection of the MICHELIN Guide Guangzhou 2023 to Atlanta becoming the newest Michelin Guide destination in North America, and even planting their flag in Colorado, there’s no shortage of delicious news to savor.
Let’s start with Guangzhou, where the battlefield of delicate Sichuan cuisine is heating up. The MICHELIN Guide Guangzhou 2023, announced at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Guangzhou, shines a brighter light on the city’s culinary scene. With a whopping 119 restaurants featured, including 3 Two MICHELIN Star, 16 One MICHELIN Star, 42 Bib Gourmand, and 58 MICHELIN-Selected establishments, it’s a gastronomic extravaganza. The ceremony also recognized culinary talents with 3 Special Awards, highlighting the MICHELIN Young Chef Award, Service Award, and the brand-new Sommelier Award, awarded for the first time in Guangzhou.

In the latest MICHELIN Guide for Guangzhou, Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine, a living embodiment of traditional Cantonese culinary techniques, exquisitely creative Taian Table, and Jiang by Chef Fei, delicately striking a balance between traditional Cantonese and innovative cuisines, have all maintained Two MICHELIN Stars.
In addition to that, 15 restaurants are recognized with One MICHELIN Star for another year thanks to their outstanding gastronomic performance: BingSheng Mansion, BingSheng Private Kitchen (Tianhe East Road), Jade River, Lai Heen, Lei Garden (Yuexiu), Lingnan House, Wisca (Haizhu), Xin Ji, and Yu Yue Heen for authentic Cantonese dishes; Hongtu Hall for Cantonese dim sum, Imperial Treasure Fine Teochew Cuisine and Suyab Courtyard・Pickmoon Gourmet for Chaozhou dishes, Song for Sichuan flavors, as well as Rêver and Stiller for modern french and european cuisine.
Last but not least, one previously recommended restaurant is promoted to One MICHELIN Star this year: the Sichuanese restaurant Yong. Located in a restored heritage building, Yong offers a dining concept supervised by celebrity chef Lan Guijun that appeals to connoisseurs with its multifaceted Sichuanese menu, quality ingredients, deft execution and thoughtful service. The array of small plates, such as five-colour noodles with lobster, and chilli chicken feet, shows much finesse. Wine pairings are also worth to be ordered from the Sommelier.
Meanwhile, across the ocean in North America, Atlanta has proudly earned its place on the Michelin Guide map. As the vibrant heart of the South, Atlanta’s culturally diverse cityscape is a playground for food and travel enthusiasts. From fine dining experiences to creative twists on Southern staples and beloved local favorites, the culinary scene in Atlanta is a force to be reckoned with. The first MICHELIN Guide Atlanta selection will be unveiled in the fall, showcasing the metro area’s world-class restaurants and exciting flavors.
But the Michelin Guide’s adventures didn’t stop there. In Colorado, a state known for its majestic mountains and breathtaking landscapes, a culinary revolution is taking place. The Michelin Guide Colorado will explore the state’s rich culinary community, showcasing the talents of established chefs and rising stars alike. With a focus on locally sourced and sustainable ingredients, Colorado’s farm-to-table dining scene is sure to impress. The guide will cover Denver, Boulder, Aspen, Snowmass Village, the Town of Vail, and Beaver Creek Resort, offering a taste of the state’s diverse gastronomic influences, influenced by German, Hispanic, and Native American cultures.
With these exciting announcements, the Michelin Guide continues its mission to celebrate culinary excellence and inspire food lovers worldwide. From the delicate flavors of Guangzhou to the vibrant food scene of Atlanta and the breathtaking landscapes of Colorado, these destinations hold the promise of unforgettable dining experiences.
