For Italian high fashion women’s clothing and accessory brand Miu Miu ( a fully owned subsidiary of Prada), a hotel is a paradox, simultaneously intimate and expansive, private and public. It is an ephemeral space – a home, but only for a night. This point of endless rendezvous and interaction is the stage of the new Miu Miu Croisière 2019 Advertising Campaign shot at Hotel Regina in Paris, a grand hotel in Paris that was opened in 1900. Whether entering or exiting, the Miu Miu women are boldly stepping into the unknown. Nothing can be anticipated, but anything may be expected.
Captured by Alasdair McLellan at the very door of the luxury Parisian hotel Regina, suspended in dynamic action, the models are poised on a threshold. The Regina was named after Queen Victoria, symbolising the Entente Cordiale between the French and the British.
A Miu Miu hotel is a space open to reinvention of the self.
The revolving cast promenading through the doorway is vividly illustrating the notion of the hotel as cultural crucible, a pole of intersection.
The new fashion campaign, which was shot back in July, is starring the 23-year-old supermodel Kendall Jenner. Jenner stars alongside Adriana Lima, Taylor Hill, Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie, Lucan Gillespie, Ariel Nicholson, Naomi Chin Wing, and Cami You Ten, Zoe Thaets.
“Both a destination and a starting point: a threshold between familiarity and the hitherto undiscovered. Inside a hotel’s rooms and suites, labyrinthine corridors and vestibules, personas are easily worn and shrugged off, different roles assumed and exchanged – a million stories can be told,” Miu Miu explained.
