“My Body Sleeps” is a performance video starring multi-award winning ballet dancer Marijn Rademaker.
Season 2011/12 marks the beginning of Rademakers tenture with Dutch National Ballet, making him on of very few ballerinos to hold simultaneous Principal Dancer positions at two different renown companies.
“My Body Sleeps” is Rademakers first collaboration with a filmmaker and his debut appearance in a conceptual video.
A new recording of Michael Nymans composition “The heart asks pleasure first” is used prominently in the second half of the film. Nyman is a British composer and pianist. His score for Jane Campion’s “The Piano” won him a Golden Globe Award in 1993.
The black&white film is directed by Christian Oita, a romanian born fashion photographer.
