Breitling is announcing a partnership with Australian lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina – the inspiration for Breitling’s rugged, retro Top Time Deus watch.

To all nomad spirits and petrol heads out there: Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling is bringing you the new Top Time Deus, co-designed with custom motorcycle and surf outfitter Deus Ex Machina. Inspired by the original 1960s Top Time, the watch stands outwith its orange details and its stylish racing strap.

The Top Time Deus is a nod to Breitling’s original 1960s watch.

As part of this exciting new partnership, Breitling is now also the official timekeeper of the Deus Swank Rally – the epic motorcycle championship celebrating vintage bikes in diverse locations around the world, including Italy, France, Australia, and Bali. But the Top Time Deus Limited Edition isn’t just for bikers, as Breitling CEO Georges Kern points out.

The people behind Deus Ex Machina share this view. “The Deus philosophy recalls an era before the various pursuits
of fun – motorcycling, surfing, skateboarding, whatever – were marketed into fundamentalist factions. All are welcomed under the Deus roof,” says founder Dare Jennings.

Featuring a 41mm stainless-steel case matched to a brown racing-themed calfskin leather strap, the Top Time Deus
features a lightning-bolt-shaped chronograph hand on top of squircle-shaped chronograph counters, Deus’ adage “In
benzin veritas” and a retro-looking motorcyclist in rally racer mode – by Deus creative director @carbyt Carby Tuckwell-engraved on the caseback.

Originally launched in the 1960s, Breitling Top Time watch had a clear mission: to suit the needs of “the young and
active professionals” with a range of “ultra-modern chronographs”.

The sports watch appealed not only to that demographic, but also to those attracted by its bold lines. The 2021 Top
Time Deus timepiece will appeal to bikers, boarders and backpackers, all looking for the freedom to explore the world their own way, at their own pace.

Breitling Caliber 23, a COSC-certified chronometer.
