Chanel magical bird’s feathers are a tribute to the free and independent spirit of Gabrielle Chanel. The fine jewelery division of Chanel introduced delicate new creations inspired by the feather. The rings and hair accessories look like borrowed from a statue.
“If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing,” Gabrielle Chanel used to say. Fascinated by diamonds’ brilliance and purity, of which she wrote that they “represented the highest value in the smallest volume,” she imagined a succession of sumptuous and innovative jewels. A combination of reproduced and reinterpreted pieces, the whole collection evokes the theme of art deco in its ribbons, bands, feathers in black and white tones, or delicate threads of diamond. In November 1932, Mademoiselle Chanel exhibited “Bijoux de Diamants” – her first Fine Jewelry collection. The new Plume de Chanel is an amazing homage to the Bijoux de Diamants’ innovative collection.
