Jones’ creative journey for the FW24 collection began with a deep dive into Fendi’s archives, specifically drawing inspiration from the year 1984. From this pivotal moment, Jones masterfully crafts a collection that celebrates the fusion of utilitarianism and extravagance, seamlessly blending elements of town and country chic.
The craftsmanship of the Fendi Atelier takes center stage as traditional British knitwear techniques and meticulous tailoring bring Jones’ vision to life. Drawing inspiration from Roman statues such as the Colossal Head of a Goddess and the Cloaked Female Statue, courtesy of the Galleria Borghese, and the Immaculate Conception from the Chiesa di San Luigi dei Francesi, the collection evokes a sense of timeless elegance intertwined with contemporary sensibilities.

The color palette for FW24 reflects the richness of autumn, with warm browns and Bordeaux hues dominating the runway. Leather riding boots and thigh-high boots elongate the silhouettes, while coats borrow plush comfort from bathrobes, and wools pay homage to traditional British styles such as the Aran and Guernesey.
Speaking about his inspiration for the collection, Kim Jones reflects on the dynamic cultural landscape of 1984, drawing parallels between London’s eclectic subcultures and the global influences of the era. “It was a point when British subcultures and styles became global and absorbed global influences,” says Jones. “Yet still with a British elegance in ease and not giving a damn what anybody else thinks, something that chimes with Roman style.”
