Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Seabourn Pursuit is the company’s second purpose-built, ultra-luxury expedition ship and the newest expedition ship in the industry.
Seabourn, the renowned leader in ultra-luxury voyages and expedition travel, has just taken delivery of its second expedition ship, Seabourn Pursuit. Amidst the excitement of an official handover ceremony at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, Italy, Seabourn Pursuit becomes the newest addition to the industry’s lineup of expedition ships.
Natalya Leahy, Seabourn President, expressed her honor and joy in welcoming Seabourn Pursuit into the fleet, praising the remarkable craftsmanship by the Mariotti team and the breathtaking style brought to life by Tihany Design. With an abundance of space and a perfect blend of luxury and expedition, Seabourn Pursuit aims to offer guests unparalleled experiences as they explore awe-inspiring destinations around the world.
Marco Ghiglione, Managing Director of T. Mariotti, shared the pride in delivering Seabourn Pursuit, highlighting the ship’s status as an outstanding ultra-luxury expedition vessel. Demonstrating the shipyard’s leadership in the luxury market, Seabourn Pursuit stands as another masterpiece of Italian shipbuilding, a true expedition jewel for the discerning travelers of Seabourn.
Seabourn Pursuit promises to provide guests with the same luxurious “yacht-like” small ship experience that the cruise line is renowned for. With a 24-person expedition team of experts, including scientists, scholars, and naturalists, guests will have access to a wide range of expedition activities, led by knowledgeable professionals. Built to PC6 Polar Class standards, Seabourn Pursuit is designed for remote and diverse environments, boasting modern hardware and technology that extend the ship’s global deployment and capabilities.
The ship’s nearly 30,000 square feet of deck space, indoor and outdoor guest areas with stunning views, and the 4K GSS Cineflex Camera mounted on the mast of the Constellation Lounge add to the allure of this expedition vessel. The camera’s capability to broadcast imagery from miles ahead on monitors throughout the ship and in guest suites enhances the overall experience.
As with the rest of the Seabourn fleet, Seabourn Pursuit offers elegance and luxury, with eight dining facilities serving gourmet cuisine and luxurious all-suite accommodations.
Notably, the ship boasts a pair of two-level Wintergarden suites, providing an extra touch of opulence.
Scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage on August 12, 2023, Seabourn Pursuit will sail through the Mediterranean before embarking on two voyages across the Atlantic and the Caribbean. From October 10, 2023, the ship will commence its much-awaited expedition journeys, taking guests to remote corners of the globe, including coastal South America, the Amazon, and Antarctica through late March 2024.
After its inaugural Antarctic season, Seabourn Pursuit will embark on a thrilling exploration of the Kimberley region in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, followed by visits to Papua New Guinea, West Papua, Indonesia, and sailing across the South Pacific between Chile and Melanesia between March and October 2024.
As we celebrate the arrival of Seabourn Pursuit, we look forward to the extraordinary journeys it will offer, allowing passengers to create unforgettable memories and experiences in some of the world’s most remote and breathtaking locations. However, in the midst of this excitement, it’s essential to acknowledge the growing concerns surrounding expedition travel’s environmental impact. While Seabourn Pursuit promises unrivaled luxury and exploration, the cruise industry as a whole must continue to address sustainability challenges to preserve the beautiful destinations we are so eager to visit.
