ruby is linked to the red planet, while sapphire and emerald are destined for Earth;

“The 90-piece line, titled Stellar Times, will transport you to another (decadent) universe, where dazzling diamonds, opals, sapphires, rubies and emeralds adorn statement necklaces, earrings and rings,” wrote marieclaire.com.

The theme of space travel has a deeper meaning, too. “Some of the best astronauts are now women,” says Amfitheatrof. “And very soon we will be able to travel to Mars. [Louis Vuitton] reflects these incredible advances, and has always been a daring pioneer in travel and adventure.”

According to FT.com, Francesca Amfitheatrof was inspired by the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the first moon landing. The whole concept, she felt, was close to the spirit of Louis Vuitton – its sense of exploration, discovery and adventure. “I also realised that the first person to step onto Mars could be a woman,” she says, adding: “Women make the best astronauts.”
