Rose of Caroline diamond unveiled by Chopard during Paris Haute Couture Week 2022.
Chopard’s luxury jewellery history has always been punctuated by exceptional stones. This fascination for the magnetism and sovereign beauty of stones has informed the choices and career path of Caroline Scheufele. As Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, she has taken the development of High Jewellery to an unprecedented level of excellence – a trajectory that she pursues in symbiosis with her deep-felt convictions regarding responsible and sustainable luxury.
Created more than 20 years ago under the impetus of Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director, Caroline Scheufele, Haute Joaillerie workshops have enjoyed a fabulous destiny, with their existence punctuated by several major milestones. In the latest episode of this trajectory, for Paris Haute Couture Week 2022, Caroline Scheufele presented a selection of exceptional stones including a stunning pink diamond weighing an unbelievable 10.88 carats.
Pink diamonds are among the rarest hues in the rainbow of coloured stones, and pink diamonds with a “fancy intense” colour are even rarer, which is why Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director was so moved when she set eyes on this magnificent age-old stone. The stone was acquired by Chopard and christened “Rose of Caroline” in an enduring tribute to the woman who both gave rise to jewellery and High Jewellery at Chopard, and who travels the world in search of exceptional gems produced by the Earth. The word “rose” thus refers not only to the pink colour of the diamond, but also recalls a flower dear to the heart of Caroline Scheufele.
A true nature-lover, Caroline Scheufele tends her gardens with the deep sense of feeling characteristic of true experts: a garden of flowers whose perpetual renewal and fragile beauty she admires; as well as a garden of precious stones.
Expertly fulfilling the fundamental mission of the jeweller’s work to reveal the natural brilliance of gems, free of fuss and frills, and to honour this extraordinary gift of Nature, the Chopard workshops have applied their expertise to endow the “Rose of Caroline” with a refined design enabling the intrinsic beauty of each stone to shine and sparkle. Featuring a radiant cut – an exceptionally 70-facetted variant of the rectangular cut – the “Rose of Caroline” is akin to an incandescent offering to light, revealing its feminine hue and its VVS1 clarity on the Gemological Institute of America scale.
The pink diamond is demurely set in Fairmined-certified ethical 18-carat white and rose gold, enhanced by two heart-shaped 2.03 ct and 1.95 ct rubies and a micro-setting of white and pink diamonds – all of which confirms the timeless character of this luxury jewel destined for eternity.
