A million dollar duo: Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Croco High Jewellery. Hublot’s list of partnerships and artistic collaborations seems to be endless.
Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot teams up with high-end luxury brand Karmaloog, a house specializing in ultra-luxury garments and accessories, for the launch of a unique jacket and watch set in a partnership that combines fashion, haute horlogerie and cutting-edge technology. Karmaloog designed a bullet resistant jacket made of the finest crocodile leather and combined it with a Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Croco High Jewellery (diameter: 45 mm) embellished with 16.41 carats of diamonds.
The ultra-luxury watch with a manufacture manual-winding power reserve skeleton tourbillon is set with 380 baguette diamonds, cut and arranged to look like scales. They cover the case, the dial and the clasp, in a layout of size and shape carefully designed to recreate the pattern of crocodile skin.
When the jacket is taken off the wearer can bring their choice of straps with them. Just one click and the watch can be moved from the jacket to the wrist, thanks to the integration of the super smart One Click system developed by Hublot.
The design of the jacket reflects Hublot’s values as Karmaloog added leather, gold, diamonds, bulletproof material and innovation. Selecting a suitable leather skin is a delicate process, and it can take up to several months to find the perfect material for a project. For this partnership with Hublot, Karmaloog’s artistic director Racho Bajadjan has designed a stylish bomber jacket, made from black crocodile leather.
Karmaloog carefully hand picks their leathers only from suppliers that guarantee the international animal laws are respected. The extremely fashionable and exclusive statement jacket has been created with a unique lining, a material developed using the latest technology to add protection without bulk it is called Carbon aramid fabric and made possible by multiple layers of finely woven carbon nanotube fabrics. This enables the jacket to withstand and absorb the impact of powerful projectiles*. The lining has then been covered in elegant screen-printed silk using Hublot colours.
“For Hublot, this is a demonstration of how far we can go in terms of exclusivity. A cutting-edge jacket, both in terms of fashion and technology, from our partners Karmaloog, a watch which reflects the immense capabilities of our watchmakers and skills of our master craftsmen, for a spectacular — and unique — result,” said Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.
Karmaloog’s gear can be fully customised by the wearer, which is also the case for this special collaboration with Hublot. The client is able to customise the various zip closures on the jacket. A set of three jewellery sliders is provided for each zip closure: The main slider at the front is 18 carats white gold and paved with diamonds (39 diamonds totalling 0,88 carats) combined with a slider crafted in white gold and two side pocket sliders all in the shape of an H ( for Hublot), these sliders are interchangeable with the recognizable Karmaloog sliders hand crafted in 18 carat white
gold.
The lining features four notches designed to house two watch straps. Karmaloog added this design feature as the sleeve of the jacket is equipped with Hublot’s patented “One Click” device enabling the watch face to be attached directly to the sleeve cuff of this jacket, so that the watch can be admired by all.
“Giving you the opportunity to transform yourself into your own luxury armoured vault, this set is the ultimate combination for anyone with a love for ultra-exclusive fashion and accessories! It can be ordered and custom-made for you for the price of one million dollars,” said hublot’s team.
