Rolex’s Certified Pre-Owned Watch Program Was Launched in the U.S. The unique program offers a certificate of authenticity, a two-year warranty, and a wax seal tag for your pre-owned Rolex.
Rolex’s entry into the secondary luxury watch market with its Certified Pre-Owned program marks a new milestone for pre-owned watches. The luxury watchmaking brand is setting a new standard for authenticity and trust, making it easier for collectors to purchase pre-owned Rolex watches with confidence.
Rolex is one of the most iconic luxury watch brands in the world, and it has seen a significant increase in demand in the pre-owned watch market in the past two decades. This is largely due to several factors:
High resale value: Rolex watches hold their value well, and some models even increase in value over time. This makes them an attractive investment for collectors and enthusiasts.
Timeless design: Rolex watches are known for their timeless design, which means they don’t go out of fashion. This makes them an attractive option for those who want a classic watch that can be worn for years to come.
Quality and durability: Rolex watches are renowned for their quality and durability. They are built to last, and many vintage Rolex watches are still in excellent condition today.
Brand reputation: Rolex is a highly respected and prestigious brand with a rich history and heritage. This adds to the appeal of owning a Rolex watch.
Rolex, has finally entered the secondary luxury market in the U.S.
The company launched its new Certified Pre-Owned program in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, Denmark, and the U.K. last December and has now expanded to select boutiques (Tourneau & Bucherer) in the U.S. starting this May.
So, what makes Rolex’s pre-owned program stand out? First and foremost, only Rolex watches purchased from authorized dealers and more than three years old are eligible for the program. This move aims to curtail the sale of newer models in the gray market. Additionally, buyers of Rolex-certified pre-owned watches will receive a certificate of authenticity, a new two-year warranty card, and the coveted Rolex “wax seal” tag.
Rolex is not the first luxury watchmaker to venture into the pre-owned market. Richemont acquired Watchfinder in 2018, while Watches of Switzerland purchased Analog/Shift in 2020. Hodinkee also entered the pre-owned game by purchasing Crown & Caliber in 2021. Other luxury brands, including Moser, Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, Audemars Piguet, and MB&F, also operate their own CPO programs.
